much-needed funds, and that in fact, numerous government policies are responsible for the siphoning of these funds out of public hands and into private pockets.
Medicare is paid for by Canadians' tax dollars. Whenever governments permit for-profit corporations to deliver health care, there is a flow-through of our tax dollars into shareholders' pockets. If services are provided by the public system, the money that would be lost to corporate profits can be made to go much further if it stays within the public system.
What can we do to keep our treasured public health care system?
- Write, phone, fax or e-mail your MP, MPP, the Premier, the Prime Minister, to show your support for Medicare NOW.
- Tell your neighbours and friends about the threat to Medicare.
- Use phone-in shows, letters to the editor, community newspapers to show your concern NOW.
- Speak up at public forums as concerned citizens.
